Georges Bank Skunk and Tufted Eared Sea Squirrel take their name from the retired longline fishing gear collected in conjunction with the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance in hopes to reduce damaging marine debris in the ocean. I clean and dye the used line and then attach it to substrates, such as taxidermy forms. The curious creatures I am creating are referred to as oceanic/pelagic/etc. in their titles as a nod to the fishing grounds (generally the George’s Bank area) where they had been used.
